Meet Chandi
It is difficult to imagine the dignified Irangani Roxana Serasinghe as a mischievous child and defiant adolescent but that is exactly who she was. Her grandmother named her Chandi, which is short for chandiya (meaning tom boy in Sinhalese), and she was frequently dressed as a little boy. With Irangani’s love for acting and innate talent, she gradually entered the vibrant world of theatre, cinema and television starring in almost 50 local and international productions in total. Yet her true passion is Nature, something that developed in her childhood. Lanka’s leading lady, with her sincerity and boundless energy, continues to be one of the most resolute voices for environmental conservation.
